The Masks We Face
The Masks We Face was a collaboration with photographer Rachell Smith.
Each person who sat for us was asked the same set of questions. Basic psychology questions. They were also asked to submit a series of images of themselves with different expressions. From their answers, I chose which expression I would paint back onto their expressionless faces. Their answers also provided the inspiration for which artistic style influenced the final painting.
We displayed 26 portraits on the Shoreditch Art Wall for one week in Great Eastern Street, London in October 2013.
